Bivett Brackett

"I’m running for Democratic Central Committee because I love our city and its diverse residents. If elected, I promise to help return San Francisco to its true progressive roots by ensuring local policies are focused on the benefit of working-class people. Everyone should have their basic needs met.

For changes to be made, we need to elect Democrats with more than just political experience – our candidates need life experience and a personal understanding of {middle-class struggles.} We need to change.

As your Central Committee member, I will use my experience as an activist to hold our candidates accountable and help foster the inclusivity needed to truly create a San Francisco for all residents. Central Committees should not be controlled by powerful special interests or career politicians; they belong firmly in the hands of the people.

I’ve devoted my life to public service and I know what it takes to usher in change. I grew up in District 5 and raised my kids in District 10 and a graduate of Lowell High. I know we can revitalize our communities and create a government for the people. I would be honored to have your vote and serve as your next committee member. We can do this – together."

"As a Muslim American woman of color and child of immigrants who came to the United States to seek a better life for themselves and their children, I personally know how much is at stake for people like me in the Trump era. After the 2016 election, I had the choice of tuning out and acting as if every fiber of who I am as a human being wasn’t under threat - or resisting, engaging and fighting for the democratic ideals America represents. I chose to become an activist and fight like hell.

I showed up for marches, rallies, and meetings. I phone banked, canvassed and rallied my personal networks across the country to show up and vote democratic in the 2018 midterms election. Representation, inclusion, social equity and justice are critically important to me, and I believe that a strong Democratic party is the way to preserve and strengthen these ideals for San Francisco and for the United States. I’m running for the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee (DCCC) in California Assembly District 19 (AD-19) because I want to strengthen our local democratic party by ensuring accountability of our elected officials and local government, investing in our community, registering and engaging voters, and improving our quality of life by supporting Democratic candidates and ballot measures that support small business, education and affordability."

Cyn Wang

Cyn Wang is running for Democratic Party leadership (Democratic County Central Committee). She is a native San Franciscan, a small business owner, attorney, LGBT champion, and mom to a SFUSD kindergartner. Her family’s business, Wang Insurance, has been at 31st and Judah since 1979. Cyn previously served as a U.S. diplomat during the Obama Administration. She began her career by serving as Assistant City Attorney to several Bay Area cities. She is a proud graduate of Smith College and the UC Davis School of Law.

"As a native San Franciscan, i have watched too many of my friends, family, and favorite small businesses leave because they can no longer afford to stay. I believe San Francisco’s affordability crisis is the gravest threat to our progressive values, diversity, and sustainability. On a national level, we have a white house focused on dismantling our democracy. A strong democratic party is our best firewall against Donald Trump. I bring a deep well of experience in land use, public policy, and diplomacy to tackle our problems head-on."
